NATIONAL CAPITAL AUTHORITY MEMBERS THANKED

23 December 2009

Minister for Home Affairs Brendan O’Connor today thanked Kathryn Greiner AO and Neil Andrew AO for their service to the National Capital Authority (NCA).

“I would like to thank Ms Greiner and Mr Andrew for their significant contribution to the work of the Authority,” Mr O’Connor said.

“As NCA members, Ms Greiner and Mr Andrew helped foster an awareness of Canberra as the national capital and set a strategic direction for planning and development in the national capital.”

Ms Greiner and Mr Andrew have served three year appointments as part-time Authority members, which will expire on 31 December 2009.

The Minister commends Ms Greiner her ongoing service to the Australian people as Chairman and Non-Executive Director of Australian Hearing.

The Minister also recognises Mr Andrew’s contribution to the international community through his work as a Commissioner for the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research Commission.

The appointments of two new part-time Authority members, Ms Shelley Penn and Ms Christine Storry, will commence on 1 January 2010.

The National Capital Authority is an Australian Government statutory authority and is established under the Australian Capital Territory (Planning and Land Management) Act 1988.
