MINISTER FOR HOME AFFAIRS TO VISIT NORFOLK ISLAND
15 December 2009
Minister for Home Affairs, Brendan O’Connor, announced today that he will be visiting Norfolk Island on the 16th and 17th of December.
"The Australian Government wants to ensure Norfolk Island’s long term sustainability and the effective delivery of government services to the Territory’s residents. This visit will allow me to listen to the views of the Legislative Assembly and community on possible future reforms," Mr O’Connor said.
During the visit, the Minister will meet with the members of the Norfolk Island Legislative Assembly and the Norfolk Island community.
The Minister, together with Norfolk Island’s Chief Minister, will also attend a reception for those residents involved in last month’s Careflight rescue. The Government House reception is being hosted by His Honour the Administrator, Owen Walsh.
